Currently, Hung Yen province has 17 industrial zones covering over 4.3 thousand hectares, 26 industrial clusters spanning a total area of more than 1.2 thousand hectares, and 18 urban areas, including various urban development projects, with 3 major urban areas currently in the investment and implementation stages. The province has received over 2.1 thousand investment projects from both domestic and foreign sources, with a registered total investment capital of around 318.3 trillion Vietnamese dong and over 6.4 billion USD. The province continues to attract investment, particularly in large-scale projects, high-tech industries, supporting industries, and digital technology industries, to achieve breakthrough development. Consequently, the demand for electricity for production, business, and daily activities during the 2023-2025 period and beyond is substantial within the province.
To meet the increasing electricity demand across the province, Hung Yen Power Company (Hung Yen PC), a member of EVN North Power Company (EVN NPC), has recently reviewed and adjusted its electricity grid development plans, considering the need to accommodate load growth and integrate into the province’s master plan. Prioritizing power grid infrastructure development, this effort aligns with the goal of transforming Hung Yen into an industrial province and simultaneously catering to the rapid urbanization occurring in various localities.
Since the end of 2022, Hung Yen PC has coordinated efforts to commission and operate two 110kV transformer substations with a total capacity of 630MVA, including Kim Dong 2 Substation and Di Su Substation. These substations are now operational and ensure a stable power supply to the expanded Minh Quang and Minh Duc industrial zones, as well as the Quang Lang industrial cluster. Additionally, in Van Lam District and My Hao Town, Hung Yen PC has put into service various transmission lines to supply electricity to the expanded Pho Noi A Industrial Zone, the expanded Minh Duc Industrial Zone, and Thang Long II Industrial Cluster, along with significant urban areas like My Hao Garden City, Hoa Phat Pho Noi Urban Area, Lac Hong Urban Area, and Phuc Hung Urban Area.
By closely following the development plans for the electricity grid and urban zones, as well as the province’s industrial park plans, Hung Yen PC has promptly executed necessary infrastructure projects to meet the electricity quality requirements for businesses to commence production. According to Mr. Dang Quang Hau, representative of the investor of Minh Quang Industrial Zone, when the plan for establishing Minh Quang Industrial Zone was initiated, Hung Yen PC collaborated with the supplying company to plan and develop the electricity grid for the zone. This foresight allowed the company to ensure a stable power supply for both construction activities and operational businesses in the industrial zone. To date, Minh Quang Industrial Zone has attracted over 20 operating businesses. All projects have signed contracts for electricity supply and consumption with My Hao Power Company. After a period of usage, the power lines, electricity grid, and associated services have been reliable and convenient for businesses.
Mr. Luong Minh Thanh, Director of Hung Yen Power Company, noted that in recent years, the commercial electricity output of Hung Yen PC has significantly increased. In 2022, the commercial electricity output reached over 5.4 billion kWh, and in the first six months of 2023, it reached over 2.5 billion kWh. The industrial sector accounted for 76% of this production. Hung Yen PC has closely adhered to the province’s plans to ensure the electricity grid serves industrial zones and urban areas, supporting overall socio-economic development. The power sector has supplemented and allocated transformer substations and transmission routes in line with transportation plans and construction, aiming to optimize land use and efficiently develop industrial zones, industrial clusters, and urban areas. Currently, the company is collaborating with relevant units to accelerate the implementation progress of 110kV power grid projects, including post-transformer substation 110kV projects after the 220kV Yen My substation, the 110kV line from the 220kV Pho Cao substation to Hung Ha, and the 110kV line and substations in Khoai Chau 2, Ngoc Long, Nhan Hoa, Yen My, and Ly Thuong Kiet. The province is also investing in 110kV transmission lines and substations in districts hosting industrial zones, large urban areas, and areas where industrial zones and urban areas like Ly Thuong Kiet are being developed, spanning Yen My, Khoai Chau, Kim Dong, and An Thi districts.
