① FDI performance in 2025 (summary)

Total investment amount (registered amount)

  • Total foreign investment in Vietnam in 2025 (including FDI, registered capital, capital contributions, share acquisitions, etc.) is expected to reach approximately US$38.42 billion.
  • This is a slight increase from the previous year.

FDI disbursement (expenditure/disbursement)

  • The amount of FDI actually disbursed in Vietnam is estimated to be approximately $27.62 billion, an increase of approximately 9% from the previous year and the largest in the last five years.
  • This is the highest level ever.

Number of new projects

  • Over 4,000 new licensed projects will be approved in 2025, with a total value of approximately $17.32 billion.

Sectoral characteristics

  • The manufacturing and processing sector was the largest recipient, accounting for more than half of new FDI (approximately $980 million in manufacturing).
  • Sectors such as real estate are also attracting some investment.

Major investment countries and regions

  • In terms of investment amount, the top four countries are Singapore, China, South Korea, and Japan, showing regional diversity.

  • The world’s largest semiconductor packaging and testing facility is built in Bac Ninh.
  • The total investment amount is estimated to be in the billions of dollars, making a significant contribution to the province’s overall FDI amount.

  • Printing equipment and electronic equipment factory in Bac Ninh.
  • Although the investment scale is in the hundreds of millions of dollars, the company has consistently ranked among the top foreign-affiliated manufacturing companies in the province.

③ Overall evaluation and trends

Strong investment environment

  • FDI disbursements and expenditures reached the highest level in the past five years, demonstrating strong confidence in Vietnam’s investment environment.

The relationship between the economy and investment

  • The economy as a whole is experiencing solid growth (including an increase in GDP growth rate), and FDI is also steadily increasing, attracting international investment from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and other international organizations.
  • Institutions have also given high praise to the country’s economic performance in 2025.
