When manufacturing companies enter Vietnam, choosing the right industrial park in a specific region is a crucial point. There are provinces and cities that are actively working to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and I would like to introduce a few examples of these regions.
This time, I would like to introduce Hue, an ancient city in central Vietnam that is also famous as a tourist destination.
Hue City is located in central Vietnam, covering an area of 4,947 km² with a population of approximately 1.24 million.

Currently, Hue City boasts nine industrial zones:
Phong Dien Industrial Zone
Hue Bi Industrial Zone
Thua Ha Industrial Zone
Hu Da Industrial Zone
Quang Binh Industrial Zone
Larson Industrial Zone
Saigon-Chan May Industrial Zone and Free Trade Zone
Phong Dien Korean Industrial Zone
GiriMex Industrial Zone

Hue City is home to numerous cultural landmarks, including temples, shrines, and palaces, all of which are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites. The magnificent Imperial City of Hue, with its moats and stone walls, is a highlight. As of January 1, 2025, the entire province has been designated as the centrally governed city of Hue.
Notable Japanese companies operating in Hue include Nakamoto Packs Vietnam and Okura Vietnam, both of which are located within the Saigon-Chan May Industrial Parks and Free Trade Zone.

As a historic city with UNESCO World Heritage status, Hue is one of Vietnam’s premier tourist destinations, offering numerous hotels for visitors. Recently, the development of industrial zones has led to the emergence of several serviced apartments for foreign residents.

Hue City, once primarily known as the capital of the last Vietnamese dynasty, the Nguyen, is evolving. With the development of multiple industrial zones, it is becoming a significant economic center in central Vietnam, alongside Da Nang.
Compared to industrial zones in major cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hai Phong, land prices and rental costs for factories and warehouses are comparatively lower, making it an attractive option for companies aiming to minimize initial expenditures.
